Grants

April 3, 2024

Did you know?

As a PSEJATC apprentice you may be receiving benefits from one of the many grants that we have received? With the help from grant sponsors and partners, within the last two years the JATC has been awarded several grants.

Show me the Money $$

Thanks to the hard work of Training Director, Ryan Bradt and Assistant Training Director, Dave Gordon, who are actively engaged in pursuing grant money, the JATC has awarded grants from:

Labor & Industries Apprenticeship Grant

Lab Improvement

With this generous grant the JATC was able to improve or rebuild several labs.

  • Over $100,000 went into the Fire Alarm lab to provide new equipment.
  • Conduit lab was rebuilt, and eight new electric benders were purchased.
  • Access Control lab, Structured Cabling lab, the AC lab, and the DC lab were all improved with this grant’s funding.
Provide 2023 NEC Book Discounts

With the 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC) update, the JATC curriculum was updated to reflect the new changes in the NEC. The update in the curriculum necessitated the need for new Code books. The L&I Apprenticeship grant provided the funds so that apprentices in their Winter and Spring book packages received a free NEC book or a NEC book at a substantial discount.

The Labor & Industries Support Services

Fill Up Your Tank

The Support Services grant provided funds, so the JATC was able to purchase gas cards in the amount of $100-$150 for all current apprentices. Those cards were distributed to students in the Winter and Spring 2024 quarters.

We will continue to explore more grant avenues in the coming year and look forward to passing along the benefits!
