Are you a Veteran?

The PSEJATC, in cooperation with the Puget Sound Chapter of NECA and IBEW Local 46, encourages veterans to apply. If you have at least thirty-six (36) months of active-duty service or have been deployed, and have received an honorable discharge, you may qualify for an application fee waiver. Before applying, please email a copy of your DD214 to michelle@psejatc.org.

Qualifying veterans who submit their DD214 before applying online will receive a one-time waiver of the $75.00 application fee.

Benefits for Veterans Who Qualify

If you have completed your military service and would like to apply for the apprenticeship, there are a couple of benefits given to veterans who qualify.

Qualifying veterans who are applying to the apprenticeship will receive the following benefits:

  • The application fee will be waived the first time you apply.
  • Veterans will qualify for an interview regardless of whether the educational or testing
    requirements are met.
  • To qualify for these application benefits you must have:
    • 36-months of active duty or deployment on record.
    • An honorable discharge.

VETERANS & PRE-APPRENTICESHIP

Veterans who can verify that they have completed a military veteran-focused and structured pre-apprenticeship training program which meets the minimum requirements established by the electrical training ALLIANCE, such as the Veterans Electrical Entry Program (VEEP), may qualify for Direct Entry or Direct Interview.

The applicant must have a minimum of thirty-six (36) months of active duty and must have received an honorable discharge.

To qualify under this provision, applicants must provide to the JATC documentation confirming that they meet the specific requirements of the military veteran-focused pre-apprenticeship program. This documentation consist of official documents such as: transcripts, completion/graduation certificates, and notarized letters of confirmation and sworn statements. The JATC will examine all documentation submitted to determine qualification of the applicant. The JATC will schedule an interview with the applicant, if it is deemed appropriate.

How does my application fee get waived?

Before you go online to start your application, please email, mail or drop off a copy of your DD214 at the JATC. We will check the form to make sure you meet the waiver requirements. If you do meet the requirements we will process a waiver for you and you can start the application process.
