As of May 1, 2026, Puget Sound Electrical JATC has stopped accepting new applications.
Applications that were paid and/or started prior to the May 1st deadline will be processed as usual. Testing and interviews for applications in process will continue.
At this time, there is no set date for reopening applications. Puget Sound Electrical JATC will provide a minimum of 30-days public notice in accordance with Washington State Labor & Industries requirements, prior to reopening applications.

What is the Apprenticeship Program?
If you want to learn to be an electrician, the Puget Sound Electrical JATC apprenticeship is a great way to get started. You can earn money while you learn. You will work in the industry and get real experience, all while going to school.
What Will You Do at School?
Apprentices go to classes one or two days each week, every few months. The classes include time in a classroom and hands-on practice in a lab. These lessons teach you the basics and skills you need for your job.
What Will You Do at Work?
When you are working, you are teamed up with licensed electricians called journey-workers. You help with different types of electrical jobs. This on-the-job training helps you practice what you learn in class and prepares you for a career as an electrician.
It is terrific to see the apprentices grown in confidence and knowledge as they move through the apprenticeship. It’s exciting to be part of that journey.
Programs we offer
There are currently 850 apprentices enrolled in PSEJATC. We offer a choice of three different electrical career paths, each focusing on a specific area of the electrical industry.
Inside Wire
Focuses on wiring and systems in Industrial and Commercial electrical work. This program offers diverse opportunities for all types of electrical work. Wiring for schools, stadiums, high rise buildings and tenant improvements are all part of this program.
Limited Energy
Electrical systems that require lower voltage are covered in this program. Fire alarm systems, medical call systems and smart homes are just a few of the areas taught.
Residential Wire
Electrical work for single family homes and multi-family housing up to six stories are the main area of instruction.
