Minimum Qualifications and Procedures

Minimum Qualifications

Age: Must be at least 18 years of age. There is no upper age limit.

Education: Must be a high school graduate or have a GED, OR in lieu of a high school diploma, have a two-year Associate Degree or higher.

Inside Wireman, applicants must show evidence of completion (with a "C" or better) of one full year of high school algebra or one post high school algebra course, or provide evidence of having completed the Electrical Training ALLIANCE Math Course with a minimum score of 75%. Residential and Sound & Communication applicants must show evidence of completion (with a "C" or better) of one year of high school basic math.

Other: Possess and maintain a Washington State valid Driver's License.  Prior to registration (if accepted), will also need to have a laptop computer with a currently supported version of Windows operating system to bring to classes, possess basic computer skills, and must be able to access the Internet while away from the JATC training center.

Procedures

Applying: You must submit your application online. There is a $75 application due at the time of submission. To apply, you will be directed to the JATC Member Log-In page. You must create an account and make sure that you are logged into your account. On the left-hand side of the page under "Apprenticeship Applications," you will click on the "Apply" button.

Returning: In order for your application to be considered valid, you must submit all supporting documentation (official, and sealed high school and/or college transcripts; and, where applicable, GED with scores and proof of a valid Washington State Driver's License, background check form and signed Substance Abuse policy) within 60 days from the date of application. Documents can be mailed to our office or delivered directly to our Night Drop box at PSEJATC 550 SW 7th St. Renton, WA 98057

Testing: Once all qualifying documents are submitted, you will be scheduled to take the Electrical Training ALLIANCE Aptitude Test. The aptitude test is generally scheduled a minimum of two times a month and is administered here at the PSEJATC. Additional information available at: electricaltrainingALLIANCE

Interview: After all minimum qualifications and testing have been completed and passed you will be scheduled for an oral interview. Interviews are generally scheduled every month. Upon completion of the interview, your name will be placed on our eligibility list according to your ranking score. You will remain on the eligibility list for up to two years without reapplication.

Application Timeline:  Due to the high volume of applicants the process can take 3 to 5 months.
