Application Information
Due to economic conditions, applications are not being taken from the general public until at least May 17, 2010.The apprentice works under the direct supervision of a journeyman wireman. The scope of work covers the installation of electrical distribution centers, panel boards, side panels, conduit systems, motor controls, lighting, fire alarms, temporary wiring, etc. The above stated work pertains to any commercial or industrial buildings. All trainees must attend a minimum of 200 hours of NJATC classroom instruction per year. An additional 15 credits of approved Associate Degree classes must be completed prior to graduation. The work covered shall include the installation, testing, service and maintenance of systems utilizing the transmission and/or transference of voice, sound, vision and digital for commercial, education, security and entertainment purposes. All trainees must attend a minimum of 200 hours of related classroom instruction per year. Click here for wage and additional information Residential Trainee - 2-Year Program The trainee works under the direct supervision of a residential wireman. This type of work pertains to wiring of homes and small apartment houses under three stories which includes electrical service, installation of romex and boxes, hook-up of ranges and other major appliances, receptacles, switches, lighting, electrical heat, heat pumps, etc. All trainees must attend a minimum of 200 hours of related classroom instruction per year. All supporting documentation (official, sealed high school and college transcripts; and, where applicable, GED with scores) must be submitted within 60 days to the apprenticeship office located at: Applications may be completed online in our office on weekdays between 9am and 3:00pm. Please allow about two hours for reading our Standards of Apprenticeship and completing paperwork. An application fee of $42.00 is required.
